Monee Elementary second-grade teacher Jennifer Williams believes firmly in the adage, "nothing beats a failure but a try." After receiving multiple denial emails to her written invitation for players from the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Wolves to be guest readers in her class, Ms. Williams was surprised when a short time after a letter to her attention arrived. To her delight, the handwritten note from Chicago Cubs mascot, Clark, thanked her for her invitation and expressed how much the sports clubs value reading. Soon after, she received packages addressed to her stuffed with free fan gear for her students! Mrs. Williams received enough items from the Cubs for the entire 2nd grade to share (all 3 classes). Included were stickers, worksheets & coloring pages, hats, bags, sports pennants and information about their kid programs.
